Q: Where and when is the Street Performance World Championship on?

Cork (Fitzgerald Park) on the 11th and 12th of June

Q: What are the opening times?
A: 12noon – 7:30pm each day in each venue
Q: How much are tickets and where can I get them?
A: It’s a free festival so there is no ticket charge or tickets.
Q: Are there age restrictions?
A: There are no age restrictions at this festival

A: As well as our website (www.spwc.ie), a brochure will be available at the festivals on the days.

Q: If I miss a show on the Sat will I be able to catch that show on the Sun?
A: Yes, but check the timetables!
Q: When is the deadline for Street Performance / Music acts to apply for the festival?
A: We are full for 2011 but do feel free to send your application details for 2012 to info@spwc.ie

Venue info

Q: What facilities are there at the festival venues?
A: There are toilets, food stalls and disabled access
Q. Where do I go /who do I contact if my child goes missing at the festival?
A: There is a "Lost Children & First Aid" tent at each festival site. It is indicated by a bright red tent with white cross on the festival map. If you have lost a child please proceed to there. Or inform one of our volunteers or security who will be sure to assist you straightaway.
We strongly urge people to use the free “lost children” numbers that are available at the festival. The free numbers will be given out when you buy a Wallys outfit or you can get them at our information points. Attach them to your child as soon as possible so if they do go missing we will be able to find them quickly.

Transport and Car parking

Q. What transport should I use to get to the festival?
Please use public transport where possible
Dublin: DART to Pearse St. Station, Luas to St. Stephen`s Green or any Dublin Bus to Merrion Square. No parking is available at the event.
Cork: Use public transport where possible. No parking is available at the event.
Portlaoise: You can take an Irish Rail train to Portlaoise Train Station (from there signage will lead the way to People`s Park). There is free car parking at Lismard Business Park and Morrisseys field. See map.
Q. Are there any discounts on travel for families/ students if you are travelling on public transport?
If you have bought your Wally costume before Friday June 17th you will receive an email containing your Free Luas travel voucher, valid for either Sat 18th or Sun 19th – just make sure to print this out and bring with you on the day you attend SPWC in Dublin.

Dublin:
No car parking is permitted around Merrion Square
Cork:

Portlaoise:
Yes - there is free car parking at Lismard Business Park and Morrisseys field. See map.

Wally Costumes

Q: Where and when will the Where’s Wally World Record attempts be taking place?
A: The Where’s Wally World Record attempts will be taking place in:
• Fitzgerald Park, Cork on Sunday 12th June
• People’s Park, Portlaoise on Sunday 12th June
• Merrion Square, Dublin on Saturday 18th June
• Merrion Square, Dublin on Sunday 19th June
Q: How do I register for the World Record attempts?
A: Visit www.whereswallyworldrecord.com to buy your Wally costume. Once you have bought your costume, you are registered!
Q: Where do I buy the Wally costumes?
A: To ensure your place as a World Record holder, you can buy your costume at www.spwc.ie or www.whereswallyworldrecord.com. If you purchase them beforehand they will be available at our pickup points:
Dublin - Dublin Toursim, Suffolk Street, Dublin 2
Portlaoise - Dunmaise Theatre, Portlaoise
Cork - Midsummer Office, Civic Trust House, 50 Popes Quay, Cork

You can also purchase them onsite on the days of the events.
Q: How much do the Wally costumes cost?
A: €12
Q: What sizes do they come in?
A: Adult (one size fits all) and child (one size fits all).
Q: Will my Wally costume be delivered to me?
A: No. Wally costumes bought online can be collected from 1st June at collection points in Cork, Portlaoise and Dublin.
Q: What are the collection points for the Wally Costumes?
A: In order to collect your Where’s Wally costume, you must have your printed receipt of purchase. Costumes can be collected from 1st June (Mon-Fri from 9am – 5pm) at the following locations:
Dublin - Dublin Tourism Office, Suffolk Street, Dublin 2
Portlaoise - Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise, Laois
Cork – Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork
You can also collect your costume at the festival, however there may be long queues on the day
Q: Can I buy my Wally costume at the festival
A: Yes, we will be selling Wally costumes at the festivals in Cork, Portlaoise and Dublin. However, we only have a limited supply, so we would advise buying them online in advance to ensure you get registered, and to avoid queues on the day
Q: Where do the profits from the Where’s Wally World Record go?
A: All profits from the sale of Wally costumes will go to the Africa Aware charity, which helps orphaned children in Africa. For more information visit http://www.africaaware-likulezi.org/

Food

Q: Will there be a shop onsite?
A: Merrion square is located in Dublin City Centre so there are many shops around. There are nearby villages with shops in the Cork and Portlaoise venues also.
Q: What food is available?
A: There are plenty of food stalls at each event serving all types of hot and cold food, e.g. noodles, thai, falafel, burgers, vegetarian, and many more. There are also stalls selling ice creams, drinks etc
Q: Is it too late for food traders to participate with the festival?
A: All trading spots for 2011 are now full. However if you are a trader please send your name, contact details, description and pictures of your unit to Concessions Manager Gareth Neville (gneville@eircom.net). If there are any cancellations he will contact you.

Volunteers

Q: Who do I contact if I want to volunteer for the festival?

Q: I live in Dublin but I want to volunteer for Portlaoise. If I do volunteer for Portlaoise/ Cork do I have to pay for my own travel and accommodation expenses?
A: No we pay for travel and accommodation costs.
Q: What type of work is involved in being an SPWC volunteer?
A: There are four main volunteer positions:
Runner (carrying various props to and from different areas of the festival location)
Performer’s Assistant (assisting performers with anything they need for their shows)
Stage Assistant (ensuring that everything that needs to be on stage before the performer is about to perform.
Working with the public (dealing with any queries the public have about the festival.)
Q: I’d like to volunteer but I love looking at the festival. Do the volunteers get a chance to watch any of the events at the festival?
A: Don’t worry, all volunteers have plenty of opportunity to see the shows and enjoy the whole event. If you volunteer you only work a few hours each day, the rest of the time you can enjoy the event!
